Easy (8 – 12 year)

Background mobility

Mobility is about how people transport and move through their environment. And how things are transported. This requires cycle paths, motorways and public transport. Mobility is not just about how one person moves. It is precisely about how large groups of people move at the same time. As a result, there are often traffic jams in the Netherlands. Nobody wants that. People also need to be able to transport themselves in other ways. Preferably in a way that is also good for the climate and not too expensive. But it is of course especially important that you get where you need to be on time!

We all use different things to transport us. A bicycle, the car or going by bus. All these things must be able to be used in a convenient way. Smart technology can help make transportation convenient. For example, if you first go by bus for a while and then by bicycle. Then it is useful if you can borrow a bicycle there. With an app you can, for example, use the bus and borrow a bicycle. This is an example where smart technology can help.

Activities

  • Learn about mobility.
  • Make a plan for how people and things will be transported in the new district.
  • Build your mobility plan for the new district.
  • Send us your plans and have a chance to win unique prizes.

Conditions

When building your idea, pay attention to the following things:

  • Many people have to live there. How do people get to the new district and how can they leave again? How do they get the items they ordered home?
  • Transport must also be smart. How can large groups of people be transported in a smart way?
  • There are also many companies or businesses such as a supermarket or a swimming pool. How do people get from their home to work or to the store? How do companies get their inventory. Consider the supermarket, for example.
  • Technology continues to develop. Which smart technology can be used for transport?
  • Being frugal with energy is important. How can people transport themselves in an economical way?
  • The district must also be beautiful in the future. How do you ensure that people can travel but that the city also remains beautiful?
  • Nature and climate are important. How do you ensure that transport does not destroy the climate and nature too much?

Average (12 – 16 year)

Background mobility

Mobility is about how people transport and move through their environment. This requires the construction of smart infrastructure (roads, paths, tram lines, etc.), but also consideration of means of transport that are economical and climate neutral. When moving large groups of people at the same time, there must be enough ways for people to all get to their destination on time. Not only people need to be transported. Goods and other items must also be transported without getting in each other’s way too much.

How we move is about infrastructure and means of transport, but also about digital solutions. Digital innovations can make mobility smarter and more convenient. For example, consider automatically updating alternative routes on your navigation or suggesting different (loan) vehicles depending on how busy it is.

Activities

  • View the Green Innovation Hub website on the theme of Mobility (Link).
  • Make a plan about your idea of the future of Mobility in the new district.
  • Build your idea in the Minecraft world.
  • Send us your plans and contribute to the future of this district.

Conditions

When building your idea, pay attention to the following things and include your idea in the pitch you give when uploading your world:

  • 60,000 people are expected to live and work in the new district. In what ways do people move from A to B. Which roads should be created?
  • Mobility must be efficient, how can large groups of people move simultaneously in a convenient and fast way?
  • There will also be companies, catering establishments and shops in the new district. How do items and products end up at these companies?
  • Digital innovations, such as apps and software, can also be used to increase mobility. Which smart technologies will soon be used to move people?
  • How will people be able to move in an energy-efficient and climate-neutral way?
  • The district must also be beautiful in the future. How do you ensure that people can travel but that the city also remains beautiful?
  • Nature and climate are important. How do you ensure that transport does not damage or get in the way of the climate and nature?

Hard (17+ year)

Background mobility

Mobility is about how people transport and move through their environment. This requires the construction of a smart infrastructure, but also consideration of means of transport that are efficient and climate neutral. When moving large groups of people at the same time, there must be sufficient options for people to all get to their destination on time. Not only people need to be transported. Goods and other items will also have to be transported over this infrastructure without getting in each other’s way too much.

How we transport ourselves is about infrastructure and means of transport, but also about digital solutions. Digital innovations can make mobility smarter and more efficient. For example, consider automatically updating alternative routes or proposing different (loan) vehicles depending on the traffic on the road. Integrating this Smart mobility in the new district is of great importance for the proper functioning of society.

Activities

  • View the Green Innovation Hub website on the theme of Mobility (Link).
  • Make a plan about your future vision on Mobility in the new district.
  • Create your vision in the Minecraft world.
  • Send us your plans and contribute to the future of this district.

Conditions

When building your vision, pay attention to the following things and incorporate your vision into the pitch you give when uploading your world:

  • 60,000 people are expected to live and work in the new district. How do people move from A to B and what should the infrastructure look like?
  • Mobility must be efficient, how can large groups of people move efficiently at the same time?
  • There will also be companies, catering establishments and shops in the new district. How are these companies supplied and what is the commute like?
  • Digital innovations can also be used to increase mobility. Which smart technologies will soon be used to move people smartly and efficiently?
  • How will people soon be able to move in an energy-efficient and climate-neutral manner?
  • The district must also be beautiful in the future. How do you ensure that people can travel but that the city also remains beautiful?
  • Nature and climate are important. How do you ensure that transport does not damage or get in the way of the climate and nature?
