Minecraft Almere Pampus Challenge Inclusion

Here you will find more information about the challenge inclusion. Read the information carefully so that you are prepared to build the future Pampus district.

Method

  • Download the Minecraft Almere Pampus Challenge (.mcworld file) on the overview page and open it in Minecraft Education.
  • Walk to the inclusion department in the Green Innovation Hub.
  • Get inspiration.
  • Start building by talking to Ilse.
  • Build your idea/vision for inclusion.
  • Save your Minecraft world on your Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Android and iPhone/iPad.
  • Open your certificate and upload your world file with a pitch (short explanation).

Easy (8 – 12 year)

Background inclusion

Many people will have to live in the new district. There must soon be room for everyone. Young and old, rich and poor, different cultures, different beliefs, all together. Because not everyone lives the same way, some people may feel like they no longer belong. This should not happen. Bringing people together and ensuring that no one is left behind is called inclusion.

For inclusion it is important that people can come together and meet each other. There may be places for this. Smart apps or technology can also be used to let people talk to each other. In the new district it is important that people are connected. This way it becomes a real group of people who can live together.

Activities

  • Learn about inclusion.
  • Make a plan about how you will keep the residents of the new district connected and working together.
  • Build your plan for inclusion for the new district.
  • Send us your plans and have a chance to win unique prizes.

 

Conditions

When building your idea, pay attention to the following things:

  • Many people have to live there. How do you ensure that everyone can live together well? Young and old, rich and poor, different cultures and different beliefs.
  • How do you get people together in a way and ensure that there is room for everyone?
  • There are also many companies or businesses such as a supermarket or a swimming pool. How can this be made so that it can be used by everyone?
  • Technology continues to develop. What smart technology can you use to bring people together to tackle things together?
  • The district must also be beautiful in the future. How do you ensure that people can come together and that the city still looks beautiful?
  • Nature and climate are important. How do you ensure that inclusion is possible without it being bad for nature and the climate.

Average (12 – 16 year)

Background inclusion

The new district must soon be a place for everyone. Regardless of age, how much money you have and characteristics based on ethnicity, philosophy and sexual preference. Increasing inclusivity can be done by tackling public spaces and making them accessible to everyone. Buildings can be built in such a way that everyone feels welcome. Creating such space alone is not enough. Digital resources, such as apps, sometimes cause people to experience more distance from the people around them. However, it can also lead to meetings and bringing different people together. Combining online and offline meetings is the challenge for the new district.

  • 60,000 people are expected to live and work in the new district. How do you ensure that everyone, regardless of age, how much money you have and characteristics based on ethnicity, philosophy of life and sexual preference, can live together in the new district?
  • How can you bring these people together in public spaces and how do you ensure that these places become attractive places to meet each other.
  • Businesses, catering and recreation must also be developed inclusively. How do you ensure that everyone has access to this?
  • Which digital technologies and developments can you use to increase the inclusiveness of society?
  • How do you ensure that the new district can become attractive to everyone?
  • Nature and climate are important. How do you ensure that inclusion is possible without it being bad for nature and the climate.

Hard (17+ year)

There must soon be a place for everyone in the new district. From young to old and from poor to rich, and regardless of characteristics such as ethnicity, philosophy of life and sexual preference. Increasing inclusivity can be done by tackling public spaces and making them accessible to everyone. Buildings can be built in a way that makes everyone feel welcome. But creating the space alone is not enough. Digital resources sometimes cause people to experience more distance from the people around them. However, it can also lead to meetings and bringing different people together. The challenge in the new city district lies in combining the physical world with the digital world in order to increase the inclusivity of the new city district.
